write a case definition for the mystery disease – Mystery disease kills Old Age Pensioners in MK care homes By Tabitha Fibs Health authorities and doctors are baffled by a spate of unexplained deaths in local care homes. At least four people have tragically died in the past week and many more are critically ill. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) have known about the infectious disease since 4 March but kept it under wraps. Relatives are demanding answers, while care home staff say squalid dank conditions and cuts to services have contributed to the rapid spread of this deadly disease. Symptoms are fever, cough and breathing difficulties. People are asked to be vigilant and report any symptoms promptly to their GP or the local NHS walk-in centre. As a concerned reporter I have consulted the NHS app and based on the symptoms reported I believe that the disease could be Typhus, linked to hotter weather coming from Europe, and unclean, squalid conditions linked to poor hygiene and cleaning practices by the nursing homes.
