Hi, my name is Johnetta Thompson working towards bridging from LPN to a registered nurse (RN). My path to nursing started with a simple desire to help others, especially in healthcare. I’ve always admired how nurses combine skill with compassion, and my own experiences caring for multiple family members. I’ve gotten experience in Nursing, from working as a CNA for 5 years, and working as a LPN since the year 2010. This gave me a real life perspective to patient care. I’m an all around people person at heart, and I believe my empathy, work ethic, and ability to work well with others will serve me well as a nurse. My Goals First up is earning my ADN and passing the NCLEX. This will get me licensed and ready to start and further my nursing career. Later on I would love to specialize in Mental Health. Later, I plan to obtain my BSN. This will let me take on more responsibility and provide more comprehensive care to my patients. For my BSN: – Keeping my GPA above 3.5 through strong study habits and good time management – Utilizing study groups when needed – Studying for the NCLEX with practice tests and review courses For my specialization: – Making the most of my clinical rotations in Mental Health This journey is about becoming the kind of nurse I’d want taking care of my own family or friends. There will be challenges, from working and school, to nursing itself. But I am prepared for it. With careful time management, hard work, and support from family and instructors, I know I can complete this milestone.
